In the first week in August our kindy participated in and raised funds for Jeans for Genes Day.

Jeans for Genes is an initiative to raise much needed funds for children’s medical research.  This week we helped children develop an understanding of the importance and value of helping others in our community by donating funds to this very worthwhile cause.

Every dollar we give will help the scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute unravels cures to a range of childhood medical conditions and create a healthier future for all children.   In addition to wearing our jeans and making our donation most of us enjoyed the chance to celebrate our new understanding by having our hair decorated with coloured hairspray.

We showed the children a powerpoint presentation which explained all about ‘genes’ and what makes us unique and why some children get sick.

We had lots of fun fundraising towards this very important cause and raised over $180 from our families donations which is our kindy’s biggest total YET! Thanks to all involved and to our wonderful Forestview teachers for bringing this important cause to our kindy family.

Mrs Nicole had to get her hair sprayed too and Luca L’s mum Nat wasn’t allowed to leave without a splash of colour either (below)!
