Here at Forestview kindy we are very passionate about all things Pirates! We have a permanent pirate ship in our playground so of course we would celebrate and have a pirate day! We love hunting for treasure, drawing treasure maps, playing pirate games and dressing up as pirates and singing songs just like real pirates!
Always a highlight on the third term calendar is Pirate Day! Following our special visit by a real-life pirate – Pirate Pete – we always celebrate in our own way with Pirate Day in both the Wombat and Koala groups and this year was no different!
We prepared for pirate day by drawing pirate maps to our special buried treasure, making pirate loot boxes with our own decorations and drawings and then preparing to dress up like a pirate for the day at kindy!
We had SO MUCH FUN making pirate flags and telescopes and maps and pirate hammering and reading up on how to be the best pirates ever.

We scrubbed the decks.

We played pirate hoops and other pirate games.
We even searched the grounds, high and low for buried treasure….and we FOUND it!
We played pirate parachute games and to top it all off, had a very piratey-lunch of fish and chips! Yum, yum.

During inside time we read pirate stories, sang and danced to pirate songs, we even played the pirate island hopping game and made pirate people.

Then, the grand finale was an ALL IN TREASURE HUNT! Mrs Leisha spotted a real pirate outside our kindy and when she chased him over the fence he dropped a pirate map! We read the clues, followed the map and guess what we found….a GIANT treasure chest filled to the brim with gold coins full of chocolate!

We filled our treasure boxes, gave out one more giant ARRRGGGHH before heading home as a very pooped pile of pirates.
